Perak Winery

The vineyards of Perak Winery are located on the southern slopes of Krndija in the Kutjevo winegrowing hills, between Kutjevo and Vetovo, in the very heart of Slavonia. The vineyards lie along the best winegrowing position of the Kutjevo winegrowing hills – Mitrovac, Lukač and Vetovo, between 220 and 300 m a.s.l. All the vineyards are located within a radius between 3 and 7 km long.
The author of the top-quality wines of Perak Winery is enologist Ivica Perak. He was born in Kutjevo, in an old Kutjevo family that has always been in viticulture and winemaking, along with growing other crops. Perak Winery currently owns 11 ha of vineyards, whose oldest grapevines date from 1968, while the latest plantation was in 2014. Among the many vintages and varieties grown, the majority belongs to white variety graševina, grown on 70 % of the plantation. Graševina is the first and basic grape variety among Croats, and especially in Slavonia. Perak Winery bases its production on this variety because it has shown that it can give wines that range from dry quality wines to top-quality and predicate wines. It is a variety extremely suitable for the Kutjevo climate. Apart from graševina, other white varieties are Pinot Gris, Rhine Riesling, Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay, traminac and Sauvignon Blanc. The red varieties produced are Zweigelt Rebe, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Currently on the market are the quality and top-quality graševina, top-quality Chardonnay and a cuvee, which is an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zweigelt. The best affirmation of the high quality of the wines of Perak Winery is the numerous golden medals won at fairs domestically and abroad (Kaptol, Kutjevo – Graševina Festival, Orahovica, Maribor, BonaVita – Trnava). Wine production at Perak Winery this year will amount to ca 70 000 bottles, 30 000 of which will be 0.75 l bottles, and the rest one-liter bottles. There are plans to start a new wine cellar soon, several times larger than the current one. The current cellar is sufficient for the production at the moment, but there are plans to increase the production in the future up to 500 000 bottles.
