Wines of the Island of Pag - Winery

Island of Pag has a strange destiny in that it is crossed by an imaginary limit that divides it in two halves – the littoral and Dalmatian part, and as such is unique among the islands of the Adriatic. On the same sea-encircled piece of land one can find moonlike landscapes of bare rock, lush pinewoods and reed beds. In this controversial diversity vineyards also found a place for themselves, as they were one of the pillars that supported the survival of the local inhabitants through the long and turbulent history of this area. Mostly gegić, but also topol, silbijanac, petovka and cipar are the grapevine varieties which have for centuries been used for the production of the famous “žutica”, as Pag inhabitants called their wine.
