Matković Petar Winery

The earliest information about the Matkovic family from Gruda on Peljesac dates back to 1503, at which time a dispute over the land for the planting of vines was recorded in the Dubrovnik Archives. Since then, generations have been involved in seafaring and winemaking. After working in the profession, mechanical engineer Petar Matković decides to return to his native land, with great love and renunciation restoring abandoned family vineyards, planting new ones and equipping a small winery. In 2003 he founded the P. Matković family farm with a focus on small but high-quality production of Plavac Mali wines at the sites of Peljesac County - Sutandrija, Dingac-Zaska and Dingac-Drma. In addition to Plavac, the family also successfully grows the French variety Marselan in its vineyards, and is the only winery in Croatia to produce 100% Marselan - L'amour wine. So today the family is cultivating 35,000 grapevines, and plans to expand to 40,000 grapevines, with constant care to improve the quality of the wine. With a wide range of red wines, from quality to premium, dry to dessert, you will surely find something to your taste at Matković Winery.
