Plavac mali is the most important autochthonous grape variety in Croatia. It was created through the crossing of two autochthonous Croatian varieties: Crljenka (in Italy known as Primitivo, and in America as Zinfandel) and Dobričić. Plavac mali reaches its maximum potential in the most extreme conditions of the Pelješac peninsula. It is considered the king of red wines.
Generations of lovers of quality wines have formed the standards of quality expected of all red varieties based on the characteristics of this great autochthonous variety.
The wine is dark ruby with a blue reflection, with a finely developed aroma; it is bold and tart with a specific taste. The aroma of Plavac Skaramuča is recognizable as a combination of sweet notes, notes of dried and even baked fruit with light aromas, cherries, vanilla and coffee with the hints of Dalmatian herbs.
